Celebrating Our Visitor Information Centre Volunteers

In recognition of the invaluable contribution made by the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre volunteers, Capricorn Enterprise CEO Mary Carroll recently hosted a special luncheon at the Waterline Restaurant. The luncheon provided an opportunity to thank the dedicated volunteers who welcome more than 20,000 visitors to the region each year, sharing their local knowledge and helping guests make the most of their Capricorn Coast experience 363  days a year.

Young volunteer turning passion into a future career at Capricorn Coast 

At just 16 years of age, Yeppoon local Lily MacAndrews is already proving that passion, initiative and community spirit can open doors to exciting career opportunities. Currently in Year 11 at Rockhampton Grammar School, Lily is balancing full-time study with an online Diploma of Travel and Tourism Management through TAFE, while also volunteering at the Capricorn Coast Visitor Information Centre in Yeppoon to gain valuable hands-on industry experience.

Budget’s record Great Barrier Reef investment to protect icon for generations

The Queensland Government will deliver a record $330.5 million investment to safeguard the iconic Great Barrier Reef, for generations to come. Funding will support delivery of the Reef 2050 Catchment Water Quality Strategy, with targets to reduce sediment, nutrient and pesticide runoff by 2032. The investment builds on more than 20 years of work to improve water quality and reef health outcomes.
