$61.1 Million commitment to New Rockhampton TAFE Centre of Excellence

Capricorn Enterprise has been a consistent supporter of the consolidation of the CQU and TAFE campuses since the official merger in July 2014 to create Queensland’s first Dual Sector University, while making way for future expansion of the Rockhampton Hospital. We commend the Queensland government’s $61.1 million commitment to establish a new Rockhampton TAFE Excellence Precinct to strengthen local skills training, help address the ongoing trades shortage, and create new opportunities for apprentices and students. By consolidating training at CQUniversity's Rockhampton North campus, the project will also support the future expansion of the Rockhampton Hospital on the south side and unlock surplus land on the north side for around 200 new homes—delivering long-term benefits for the region.
