GBRMPA (Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority) Reports Humpback Whale Numbers Surge

One of the world’s great conservation success stories is unfolding along Queensland’s coast, with humpback whale numbers rebounding from just a few hundred animals six decades ago to around 50,000 today. The dramatic recovery of the east coast humpback population means more whales than ever are making their annual migration through the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, creating spectacular opportunities to see these incredible animals breaching, tail-slapping, breeding and nursing calves.
